Join us on May 18th on the North Fork of Long Island. Details to follow....
This is a good question to ask. Every year we try to make mother's day casual and laid back to give a break to the women that put so much into everyone else in their life, while still keeping the class and elegance that they deserve!
We recommend sticking to a comfortable and stylish attire that is appropriate for the season and our itinerary. Below are a few do's and don'ts for your attire to follow when attending our Mother's Day events.
Do's:
Bring layers: this time of year can be very unpredictable.
Wear comfortable shoes: you can expect that we will be doing some walking and standing throughout the evening. On top of that, the vineyard has a gravel parking lot that may be uneven, so having comfortable shoes will prevent you from tripping or hurting yourself. Stylish flats, low wedges, and even low-heeled booties, loafers, or comfortable sandals will keep you comfortable and looking great!
Go for natural and dark colors: there can be accidents and splashes, wearing dark or neutral colors, such as black, navy, gray, or earth tones tend to be more forgiving than whites or pastels. Clothes with a pattern can also hide any spills or splashes as well.
Don'ts:
Wear perfume or fragrances: avoid wearing heavy perfumes, colognes, or lotions with strong smells. These can interfere with the aromas of the wine and bother other tasters who are trying to asses the aromas in the wine.
Wear clunky jewelry: choose simple accessories to avoid clanking against glasses and accidently knocking anything over and/or off of the table.
Wear white or light colored clothing: these colors are most susceptible to spills or stains when wine tasting.
Wear comfortable clothing: wearing clothes that are overly tight or complicated to get in and out of may not be the best fit on a wine tour. We will be walking through the vineyards, as well as sitting and standing for long periods of time and consuming glasses of water, wine, and other beverages throughout the evening. So you do not want clothes that you will need to fight with to get back on in the restroom.
Overdress or Underdress: your outfit for this event shouldn't be formal. So save the cocktail dresses for our fundraising casino night in August. Sweatpants and sweatshirts aren't typically appropriate for a winery. However, a cute pair of jeans or deep colored leggings with a nice bouse or top are perfect!
In the end, the most important thing to wear to one of our Mother's Day events is your smile! Wine tasting is a fun, social, and casual activity where you will get to spend time with those you know and the friends you are about to meet!
